Dayception is built so that your countdowns stay yours. This page explains, in plain language, what the app does and doesn't do with your information.

Who we are

Dayception is made by NetSmiths Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 17311406) with its registered office at 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU. For the purposes of UK data-protection law, NetSmiths Ltd is the data controller for this website and the app. Contact: hi@netsmiths.com.

The short version

  • Dayception is offline-first. Your countdowns live on your devices.
  • Sync happens only through your own private iCloud, end-to-end between your devices.
  • There is no account to create and nothing stored on our servers.
  • We run no analytics, no ads, and no third-party trackers.

What we collect

Nothing on our servers. The events, dates, names and notes you add are stored locally and, if you enable iCloud, synced through Apple's iCloud under your Apple ID. We never receive a copy.

iCloud sync

If you sign in to iCloud on your device, Dayception uses Apple's CloudKit private database to keep your countdowns in sync across your Mac, iPad and iPhone. This data is governed by Apple's privacy terms; we cannot read it.

Reminders & widgets

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Widgets and the Mac menu-bar countdown read only your local data to render the next event.

Purchases

The one-time Dayception Pro (or Founder) purchase is handled by Apple's App Store. We receive no payment card details — only Apple's confirmation that a purchase was made.
